Brake spring comparison

I am in Australia and i had applied supply me with some replacement rear brake springs I have just tried to fit them but they appear to be different
to my old ones

The brown one has less turns and appears to be smaller diameter wire while the white one has a long arm that is bent in the opposite direction see
photos

the drums i have were given to me as replacements for a set of discs i had on the rear . i am trying to get a park brake operational on the rear set
of wheels

so it is possible that the springs on the old drums are not original can anyone confirm that these springs supplied will work

The part number on the box is Carlson H7208

Works on all four wheels of mine. And, while the parking brake is installed, I don't use it. Chock the wheels. (Georgia doesn't test it for
registration)

I bought new springs for my rear brakes. They were different from the originals.
But they work.

The brake you are working on is known in the industry as an "11X2 Bendix". It has been a long time since Bendix was the only supplier of both the
11X2 and repair parts for same. They are actually still in production. The good thing is that even as they are redesigned, the parts have to be
approved and certified by DOT. So, if it is a part for a "Bendix 11X2" it has to meet the OE or a revised standard for said part. So, if you get a
part that does not look like what you have, but it is specified as for that 11X2 Bendix, it will perform as required. If it is an upgrade part that
is not backward compatible to Model Zero, if must be uninstallable in the non-compatible units. That is why you can get parts from Bendix, Delco,
Wagner, Carlson, Raybestos - etc. The other joke is that I don't think any of those manufacture the entire kit. They may make some, but they buy the
others and most will buy the others from the same supplier and put it in their package. That is the only way that aftermarket can cover the lines
that they have to for a complete catalog.

This is like the 272 vs 462 brake shoes. If you try to assemble the brake with the wrong parts, it just won't go together. Even there, if you by
re-lined shoes, it is anybody's bet who made the steel parts and only the big names (like Delco and Wagner) will have their only lining on them.
