Brake Power Booster

Patrick:

I trashed my trash on the computer before I printed out the cars that have
the Electric Power Brake Booster's Listed.

Had the experience in my driveway on a small incline attempting to move the
MH in a different area. The engine quit due to not being warmed up.
Stepped on the brakes and what a surprise!!! Hardly any brakes with the
engine off. Made the decision right then to install a vacuum back up system.

Since I trashed this info the first of August in my computer and the
archives for August have not been entered could you give me a list of the
cars that have the electric vacuum system installed so that I can go to my
local junk yard and purchase one.

The following is a snippet from Gene Fisher's article on vacuum
pumps(which I have around here somewhere now that I think about it):

If I'm not mistaken, the vacuum pump is located obscurely, usually under
the battery holder in the front ft side of the engine compartment.

Make sure you also obtain the pump power cable with connector and the
vacuum line intact with the check valve in it, also.

P. S. If you have back issues of the GMCMI newsletters, the pump was
written up in one., which included information of their location. I'm
not at home now, so I can't quote the issue number for you.

a 85 Pontiac 6000 however the electric system was never installed.

Individuals in the yard said they never had a car with an electric
vacuum system for power brakes other than maybe a CAD with a level
ride. They recommended an extra tank like from an empty freon bottle
with a check valve. Maybe I'll make one from a length of PVC plastic
pipe and mount it aft of the engine just below the step in the front.
Any suggestions.

Robert.......As I said in an earlier missive, you will be dealing with
knuckle draggers in most wrecking yards. I had to show the guy the vacuum
pump on the inside fender well and then he told me he hadn't the slightest
idea what it was. I paid ten bucks. A storage tank is dandy. This way you
get two pumps of the brake pedal instead of one before you begin your
Kamikaze run down the side of the mountain. Go to another wrecking yard and
stop playing around. Get the pump.........Jim Davis
