Brake fluid - Dot 5?

Is our braking system able to use Dot 5? Been working to restore another vehicle and some of those guys have converted over to Dot 5 because of its
stability.

NO. Dot5 is a silicone based fluid. Do not try to convert to it.

You can however convert to DOT 5.1. You should convert to it. convert it. I did a seminar at the Tallahassee convention last year about brake fluids and 5.1. It is probably on the GMCMI web site. 5.1 is a glycol based brake fluid with additives to give a higher boiling point.

Easy to do. It is compatible with Dot 3 and Dot 4 fluids.
