I understand your concern, but I've seen many new FWD cars with less
than 1/4 inch clearance between the front brake caliper and cast
aluminum wheel. I would think the possibility of a stone becoming
lodged in there would be pretty small. Just don't let a finger get in
there.

Try to keep it to less than 1meg per day(more for my sanity than
ibm.net's limit).

I have less than that on the Porsche. Maybe 3 or 4 mm, at best.
