Can someone point me to photos of the brackets on a 455 in a motorhome, or to better drawings than what's in the manual. I got the compressor brackes
on. I got the alternator brackets on I got two strange brackets and a steering pump on the ground. The picture (drawing actually) in the book isn't
real clear. Where it looks like one of them ought to go according to the drawing, there ain't no hole there. Help!

I am traveling and don’t have access to a manual right now. There is a good chance that the other brackets might be fan shroud brackets.

There is also a small bracket for the rear of the alternator. Be sure to use the bushing between the bracket and the head. It’s about 3/4” thick. Without it your belt won’t align properly.

Parts manual page 16-19 shows a pretty good picture. Note that "washer" item 10 is needed to ensure correct alignment of pump to the plane of the
crankshaft pulley so the the belts run straight. It is tough to get in but even tougher to do after the pump has been installed. Ask me how I know!
I used this diagram as a guide when installing a new pump on my 77 455.

Can you send me a photo of the brackets?. I have help swap out four
engines in the three years and have a good idea where they might go.

I got the A/C compressor brackets on correctly. I got the alternator one on, but I suspect its three bolts also hold some of the steering pump
brackets. I got the alternator brace and spacer. I use a yardstick (steel) as a straightedge to prove pulley alignment.. so far so good. I don't
have the parts manual, just maintenance and supplement. I'll get it from Bdub and see if that drawing is any more legible than the one in the
maintenance manual.

n.b. this coach never had a horse collar as long as I've had it. One piece fiberglas shroud. Which I will likely split on re installation.

I can't find the parts manual on Bdub's or Gene F's site. Can anyone point me towards a .pdf or at least pages 16 - 19?

Spoke too soon :) Missed the nut on the stud on the rear of the pump. Took it all apart, mounted the pump and reservoir together, and then put the
assembly back on the engine. Total time to R&R the power steering pump, replace the pump on the reservoir with the new one, and put it all back on
right, ~~ 6 hours. This included the hour or so I spent repairing the Advance Auto loaner pulley remover - replacer. Guys, when you borrow a one -
off tool for one time use, please LEARN HOW TO USE IT. Geez, a how to chart came with the thing. Someone or ones had cross threaded about all the
threads in it. Some time spent with my Freight, Harbor tap n die set and I got everything to working except the universal pin, which
was stripped beyond repair.. Fortunately, a GM 3.1 pin works to press the pulley on. The Advance manager had a couple of the same tool kit with
missing or broken pieces, we managed to gin up two complete kits using pieces from the third one. Note that this was done sitting where the radiator
should be, facing the front of the engine. To get it off and back on with the radiator fitted would take substantially longer, if it was even
possible. Truly an argument for a split radiator bracket.

A/C compressor next!

Having minor ptsd thinking of R&R ing that power steering pump again. If I remember correctly on my coach i had it off not long after owning to
replace it. Then again when I did the timing chain. Then when I installed the new engine, I bought a new pump/reservoir because the prior one
always leaked between pump and reservoir. The new one had a cracked return pipe or I cracked it on install, so I just did that job again this
spring. That bracket is crazy complicated and hard to reach every bolt! Worst is trying to make sure timing tab does not get out of place.

yes. But now that I know which ones, two bolts and one nut remove it. Loosen a couple more to swing things out of the way. This lets you mess with
the brackets on the workbench.
