Boot Clamps

Troops........I owned my own driveshaft shop for over 20 years and put on
many boots. The "Super Boots" are nice to look at, but they're just not soft
enough to allow the clamps to squish them down into the groove. Stick with
the plain old boots you can get in any parts store. They're more than strong
enough and very resilient. Don't use the type of clamp that is cinched up
with special pliers. They just don't tighten down the rubber enough. Instead
of buying strapping, buckles and tools, why not go to the local transmission
shop or driveshaft shop and ask them to put on the clamps for you? It just
can't be that expensive.....Jim Davis on the Oregon Coast where it's
