Gary.
I refurbished my bogie Pin/bushings last year. It had the original
teflon bushings. The bushings were almost worn thru on one side. I think
the fact that the pin was starting to wear on the bogie housing slowed
the bushing wear.
The teflon looked like a "cloth". Perhaps there is a trade name for
this application. It was a poor application in this case. Only about 1/2
of the "cloth" was still intact.
I now have brass bushings with the new pins. The old pins had about
1/16 inch of wear. When I replaced the bushings in the bogie arms I took
them to a shop that has a large pin fitting machine that is used to
resize king pins on semi-tractors steering. The mandrels/stones were
about18'' long.
I was amazed at how much the bushings were mis-aligned in the bogie
arm. This was evident after the honing of the bushings. It made the two
bushings perfectly parallel to each other and made for a tighter fit
than reaming would have done. It cost about $100.00 for all four bogie
arms. It was money well spent
