One evening last year at the local WalMart, I spotted Mobil1 in five quart
jugs, for around $16.00. I thought, "That's neat - I'll pick up a couple
this weekend." WRONG! Haven't seen this on the shelf since and the
department manager just shrugs his shoulders when I ask.

Has anyone else seen Mobil1 in five quart packages? I've been tempted to
call Mobil and see if I could buy direct.

Last summer, I was up at Reno for Hot August Nights (Largest Car Show going)
and noticed that the regular price for Mobile 1 there at Target was $2.39
quart. I filled my trunk of my 91 TBird at that price. I also noticed that
it was $2.39 up in Grants Pass, Oregon at a Target too. Once across the
state line to California, it went to $4.03. Seems like a large disparity in
prices by region on this stuff. Does anyone know if Oregon is still
cheaper? Reno was cheap but Vegas was like California price. All this was
last summer.

Phil,
Oregon may be less expensive but do not call us cheap!. Mobile 1 was $14.34 for
a 6-pack ($2.39/qt) last week at K-Mart.

Yes! Your right, it comes and goes quick! Its labeled here 5qt for the
price of 4. I stock up whenever I see it. In Philadelphia, Walmart, auto
parts places and Shoprite, a food store, carry it, breifly. Rarer still is
the M-1 oil change kit. It includes an 8 qt. oil change pan with that 5qt
jug inside (at the same price of $14.95-15.95). The pan has a lid to make
moving the dirty oil less spill prone. It also has a spigot that fits in
the jugs mouth so you can drain the used oil in it for re-cycling. walter
