" 'E' rated tires will increase the margin for error, but they will not end
all tire failure". OK has anyone ever had a blow out with a E rated all
steel tire?

IIRC, that's exactly what Dave Greenberg experienced on the way to
Marion, NC last fall. Bridgestone replaced the tire and paid for the
repairs to Dave's coach.

I don/t believe that Daves are all steel tires.

Dave will have to tell us whether the failure was before or after the
swap. You listening Dave?

And also the designation and size please.
I started hunting locally yesterday and was told no All Steel Bridgestone in
16"

First I have to deal with my Alcoas' -- recall candidates :-(

Not exactly, Patrick......the tires on the coach at that point in time
were D rated poly/steel Bridgestones.

The old girl now sports E rated all-steel Bridgestones. I use 225 75
R16's which I bought from Alex Sirum. They are so heavy and solid that he
and I are of the belief that they will run flat with no trouble! [g] In
fact he can't use a regular tire mount-dismount machine. Someone said
their dealer said there is no Bridgestone 16" all steel. Translated it
means he didn't have them in stock and didn't want to order them.

For price comparisons call or write "The Tire Rack"..they advertise in
the car magazines. I bought my first set of B.S. tires from them and they
shipped directly from B.D.'s warehouse. Whatever you do, when buying
tires insist on checking the date codes to make sure they are fresh. The
two tires I had to buy after the blowout on the way to Marion were 2
years old!

BTW, my new Alcoas arrived at Sirum's Wednesday. Alcoa air freighted them
out as they knew we were leaving town next week.

Now I can worry about other things!
