My dump hose fitting is 4-3/4" diameter. The PO decided to fit a 4" storage ABS pipe behind the bumper with an end cap is 4-1/2" inside diameter.
So of course the dump hose doesn't fit. In fact PO drove around with dump hose end hanging out ...no doubt to match his permanently on turn
signal. Must have been a sight. Needless to say I won't be following his driving style so what size storage pipe do you guys usually fit? ABS or the
white stuff ?

Go to your local RV supplier as they will have the larger one to fit, if
not you slide the hose in and let the Flange exposed.

I used to carry my hose/adapters/glove/black hose in a small Rubbermaid container, inside the unit. I never found an outside storage solution that I liked.

But, IMO - the real fix is to install a macerator! You may come around to that thinking - after you’ve dumped a few times. Some sani-dumps are NOT very GMC friendly, mostly due to how low our tanks are.

Low tanks are GREAT when driving down twisty roads - not so much when trying to dump with a bit of incline or there is a curb in the way.

It’s been one of the best changes I’ve made and lots of others say similar things after installing one... My Royale is likely quite different from your GMC - but we can chat more, if you’d like...

Sorted out the snake Rob, removed the coupling and cut about a foot off the hose. Now it fits in the tube and the coupling gets stored (bagged) in a
box in the coach.
Also my gate valve at the black tank wasn't sealing completely and leaked into the dump pipe. Decided to fit another gate valve with a snake coupling
at the pipe terminal rather than replace the one at the tank, bought this one:

Larry,

If you haven't used a macerator to dump a black tank, you don't really
understand how much unpleasantness you can avoid: No more leakage,
handling of that big cumbersome 3" hose (which is prone to leaks) including
dragging it out, washing it, draining it, wrangling it back into its
storage, etc., etc.

WIth the macerator, you can pull a 1" to 1-1/2" hose from a storage tube,
dump, and slide the hose back into the tube. You can even run 50' or more
to a home sewer clean-out or such. MUCH more convenient than the 3".

I wouldn't think of going back. My X-Birchaven, because of the tanks'
layout, has one on the black tank and another on the grey tank, both
feeding one drain hose. That lets me rinse the minor black water residue
out with grey water.

Try a friend's macerator at a rally -- you'll be convinced.

I've been looking into getting a macerator Ken, it's on the list for the future but for now I just have to get something happening so I've gone with
the quick and easy fix getting that Amazon valve.

As a new owner (2 months only) I'm still going through all the systems so that everything is serviceable and working, just about every aspect of this
coach needed some attention but all is slowly being brought back to usability.
No more leaking, no more exhaust leak, 7 new tires fitted, house battery compartment rebuilt, Onan repaired, furnace repaired, back bedroom rebuilt,
steering centered, coach height reset, wall behind dinette replaced, sink drains replaced, stereo repaired, jack hook made and lots of other small
jobs too. Oil change tomorrow, sun visor soon and new hubcaps today!

Now if only that damn fridge could be sorted out ...

Larry,

You're doin' good!

Don't worry about all the extraneous advice us old codgers with little else
to do send out -- 'tho' I should be out repairing that failed swimming pool
pump before today's 90+*F. :-(

No worries Ken, I take as much advice as I can get - in the last 50 years never owned a motorhome or even a GM product ..I'm one of those British car
guys, ask me about straight 6 DOHC Jaguars, I can help - never owned a V8 anything before so lots to learn!

cheers

How 'bout that! Back in 1957 I was THE mechanic (& parts man & janitor) at
one of the first foreign car dealerships in the SE, Martin Motors, in
Columbia, SC. Got to work on some of those Jag 6's myself. Don't remember
a whole lot about them -- except that they had Lucas ignitions. :-((

Hi Larry
I might have to pick your brain on straight-six Jaguar knowledge, have to get my wife's XJ6 out of long-time storage this summer, hasn't been started
in probably 15 years and I've never played with it before.

I haven't even got to looking at my tanks and hoses, too many other projects, hope they're ok.

I was waiting in line to dump my tanks this morning and this lady reminded
me of this thread... The little 1" curb was not helping the contents of her
tanks make it to the "hole in the ground". It was a real stinky-slinky
ballet:

BTW - I had my GMC for at least three years before installing a
macerator... There is ALWAYS a list with a GMC...

But once you start getting "close" - you'll really start enjoying it! And
it sounds like you're getting very close!
