The Black List is still open over the weekend. Just send your information
to me at rblack to join the helpers while on the road.

Remember, the GMC you save may be your own.

Join up and the latest list will be posted on the net on Monday.

New edition of the Black List is going to the printers tomorrow. Join up
while the list is hot. Need you on the list to help.

This week has added some in areas not covered before. Good ones too. Free
Beer if you break down (or pretend to) in Saskatchewan.{:>) Also vittles in
East Mississippi/West Alabama.

Scott,
Trying to get up to 500 before I get a coach and hit the road. Will need
all the help and coffee I can get.{:>)

Now for the net, two questions:

1. Looked at a Birchaven Tuesday. There was a 4" vent (blocked) that
looked OEM on the step right behind the left side of the passenger seat. It
had a long adapter on the inside(engine compartment) for attaching a 4"
hose, I think. Is this OEM? Haven't noticed it on any others I've looked
at.

2. Noticed for the first time in the rear fender wells, that the plywood
floor was visible on each end. Is this normal? Seems to me that it would
be covered due to the moisture thrown against the end grain.

I'll defer to the Birchaven owners on this one. I've never seen a vent like
this, but the Coachman finished coaches are a little different.

Yep! That's the way it is on my 73.

I've always assumed(yeah - I know) that GM used marine grade plywood so
moisture isn't a problem.

I am ashamed of Idaho. I know there are a lot more GMC here then just the 2
who belong to the Black List. And I know who those 2 are. I wonder if Dave
would give you a list of only how many GMC's are registered from each state
and compare the two.
Bud and I can't offer much in a time of need except a place to stay, meals
and support with a few tools.
I believe you will find in any organization there are those who are willing
to help in any way and those who think it is too much trouble or have many
other excuses, that's just the way it is and always has been. But sometimes
those peoples minds change when they are in need and someone comes forth
with the help.

Go to GMCMart.com and there is a map of registered coaches per Dave G. For
others out there, register your coach, Dave may have a history on it or
other info. Also, there are a lot of parts listings on the site. Check em
out and maybe, add a part or two while there.

I really agree with you plea for others to join the list if only for
morale support. With my recent transmission problems, I call several
people on the list. Just to know that there were people who could
brainstorm or sympathize was a great help. Each member I talked with
offered to pick us up, feed us and bed us down for the evening. It was
great. Based on my report, I got a private e-mail from a member of our
local club and he added his name to the list this week. I have received
calls from new owners and wantabees and it gave me an opportunity to
recruit them for the local club and for the GMCList. I could also steer
them to local shops, etc. Anything I can do to help people get the same
passion for the GMC that we feel is the very least I can do.

That being said, I will continue to support anyone I can in anyway that
I can and sympathize if I can't. Your results may vary.

Roger, I have a 77 Birchaven and it doesn't have such a vent. Sounds like it
might be a good iodea though, and an alternative to the ones up on the
floorboard under the dash

It would also help if someone involved with each rally or mini rally, would
ask folks to join in the Black List. Tulsa, you listening? {:>) Need some
kind of form, I can make one up and send it to anyone in a jiffy. How bout
a requirement for THE free Prime Rib, join also.{:>) There are many
opportunities for each of us to discuss this with other owners. Go for it.

What is the Black List and why is it called the Black List?
 
The Black List is a group of GMC owners/supporters on the GMCNET who are
offering their services to other GMC owners in the way of assistance while
traveling the country. Sort of a safety net. Just a friendly voice that
can help direct someone to assistance in their neighborhood. Help eliminate
"tourist" prices by having someone local to help. It might be just to
direct someone to the right place to take care of troubles. The list is
only used for the contact between GMC'ers and is available to any GMC owner
whether on the list or not. Everyone offers free coffee or other adult
beverages except Mike Beaton, the tea man.

As for the name Black List and Black Tank, the originator of the List is
named Black, hence the nickname Black whatever.

The real name as originally thought of is
"GMC MOTORHOME ASSIST LISTING" so Black List came up as easier to
spell."{:>)

Jack,
All I need is name, rank, serial #. Phone # also. And any other
information you want to give. Area you'll cover, coffee pot size, ability
to do complete engine overhauls on the side of the road, etc.{:>)
