I just took it for a ride and snuck across the scale and the grain bin (they leave it on)

It was 10,100. Gross weight for a 23-footer 10,500,right? I was surprised to find it so heavy.

It might have a full water tank. other tanks are empty Most of the cabinetry is original, lots of things are probably lighter than the original like
the fridge and cooktop.

What am i missing

Currently planning the Great american Road Trip Summer 2021

It's gonna take a lot of Adderall to get this thing right.

Dave,

Maybe nothing. My 73-23 tipped a truck scale at 9480 years ago with full water and fuel. This is on the light side and I am sure that it is heavier
now. All of our interior is plywood and not particle board. I don't know about Coachmen.

Birchaven interior was done by Coachman, A RV mfg and they used real wood
for the cabinets .
Also the Royal was done by them..

Generally speaking, the 77 & 78 26' ROYALE'S by Coachman Industries are the
heaviest coaches. All of them that still have the Onan generators will go
over 10,000 pounds.
74, 75, 76 GMC built coaches usually are the lightweights. Many early
coaches are heavy, don't have an explanation for that.
We weighed all coaches at a GMCWS rally at Casa de Fruita, California a
few years back, and checked ride height, too. Also checked side to side
weights.
Finally stopped checking ride heights. Futile exercise. None were
correct at the rally except for 2 coaches, my 78 Royale 26' and Jerry
Work's 26' coach. Some were at least 3" or more low.
Many of the coaches were several hundred pounds over the GVW
recommended on the tags.
