I would like to submit an idea, spawned by the recent Vette/ham radio thread
and the subsequent backlash.
I have never met any of you, not one, nor have you met me. I'm guessing that
with only a few exceptions, this holds for most of the net. I feel like I
somewhat know a couple of you, especially Arch, because of the frequency of
your posts and the fact that you let some personality and
background/biographical information slip in. Frankly, I like this and I
suspect that most everyone else does too.
So, for my suggestion: could someone install an area on his website for
biographical dossiers on each netter? Strictly voluntary, of course. I can
tell you that I am far more interested in reading this than I am in
contributing to it, but will do my share. I was pleased with the Vette/ham
radio thread because of where it led, completely unpredictable. I mentioned
50's music, Steve said Connie Francis, Ron danced with her, then Terry
mentions DooWopShop (gotta check it out)! This is not unlike meeting people
at a get-together and making new friends. Yet I understand why those of you
who only come here to exchange part numbers or procedures would find this
frivolous. If the bios were filed on a web site somewhere, the likely result
would be a fair amount of direct emails and getting to know one another
better without distracting from the primary purpose.
What say?
