Bielstein pre-caution

Just finished replacing a lost nut from the lower attachment bolt on the
front shock.

It was a costly travel interruption... not the replacement of the nut, but
the fact that I did it at a Costco :-)

This has happened a couple of times now, so please check the nut at lower
attachment and when replacing shocks be sure to use a fresh locking type nut
(as recommended by Bilstein).

It takes many miles to work loose so it's not a big problem, just a reminder
to put a wrench on it once in while. I try to remember at lube time, but
obviously forgot during last few as I lost it altogether :-). Did have a
spare though.

Enjoying Northern BC.

No bugs last night and the night was nice and cool. Stayed at a government
campsite last night and it served as a reminder that the GMC is just the
right size.

Fridge is workig on MAX, which makes it too cold if door closed for the
night. Going to try and back it off some tonight. Perhaps it's the
temperature control that's my grief.

We are replacing our shocks in a few weeks when we recieve them.
Although they will be KYB am sure the same goes for the nuts. Can you tell
me what size they are and also name description etc. So we can pick up
some new ones. Where Napa, Grand Auto, etc ???

no need to bother with all the nuts on shocks - just put a few drops of
LocTite on the nut when you install it - it will never come loose until
you put a big wrench on it - solved all my problems with rear shock nuts
coming loose

Sorry, I won't have the size until tomorrow, when I replace them.

The GM Part# is 9422303 but what I've been using is a standard AN locknut.

I'll post size and perhaps a generic number tomorrow when I get back to
civilization.

Right,
meant to mention that in my last post... That's what I'm going to do as
well.

I wonder why Bilstein, etc. doesn't recommend that as well.
