I did not think these motors (455) could bend a valve. I thought they
did
not have that close of a talorance. Anyway I have a bent valve. I can
see
it by eye. Could I have done this myself by rotating the cam or crank
at
the time of a chain replacement ?
Bryan,
A bent valve is pretty difficult to see without removing the valve
spring. A couple questions here unless someone has already answered up.

After removing the original t-chain, how did you line up the cam
gear/crank gear for installation of the new gears & chain?
Did you run the engine after installing the new t-chain & buttoning up
the engine?
Just an observation here but it's pretty difficult to bend a valve when
cranking the engine over by hand. You would encounter enough resistance
when the piston struck the valve that It would make it near impossible
to continue rotating the engine (by hand). Cranking the engine with the
starter could do it though.
Pushrods tend to bend before the valves do also.
Need more info.
