As I have been away from home on holidays I am catching up on old news.
It is unfortunate that showing my attatchment to Darren and sending
pictures to Gene's site would cause you such grief!
I am not mad at your comments, I am saddened at them! Why must you
criticize others.
For starters I did not build it to compete with the OTC tool. I have
thousands of $$$ in tools and feel for the people that would not use it
for all of the other uses. I remember you sending a message to the net
stating that you would contact the manufacturer of the torsion bar tool
for a mass buy if enough interest was shown. Is this not doubling up on
the OTC? (ENVISIONED?) Some people already have pullers for their
harmonic balancers. I simply built this little tool as an experiment,
and it does work.
As for building them for sale... this is what Darren suggested. My
reply to him was that I could do it, but I would rather share it for
free. I will provide a drawing shortly to any interested. Perhaps I will
build them for others. Some us do not have the means to own two
Mercedies, let alone one.
As for how many on this net do I think posses the skills or the
equipment to make even one of them, (these are your words) it is simple
to fabricate. Drill three holes, weld on one nut. I built one did I not?
and I am going to build a better one as well.
Many have access to a drill press, a welder or have a friend or contact
to help out. How about the local high school or trade school? Do not
belittle all of us on the net, we are not that useless.
As to it being only a foot long you are correct. However if you would
have read my message to the net on June 29, post # 619, you would have
read that although it worked I would build the next one at 24" long for
more leverage, and still be under $10.00 CDN. That is under $7.00 US.
The OTC cheap at $80.00. Obviously you did not read that. Do not get
hung up on this. It is meant to be a singular tool like a 1/2 " wrench.
I do not like the fact that you wish to belittle me, the builder...
Darren that mentioned it... and others on the net that showed interest
in it. I think I will build my new version and send it off to Darren for
their bearing change meeting and they can asses it. If they do not like
it that is what the report will state
As for what is this device Rockwell tested to? It is mild steel, all
that is needed, and it works fine.
And on a final note, since you are so often hard headed to others
accomplishments and viewpoints...
What Rockwell hardness does your head test to?
