Mostly for the new folks, but a reminder for all. A guy got fortunately only his arm broken locally when his car fell off the jack. If you are under
your GMC when it comes down, YOU WILL NOT SURVIVE THE EXPERIENCE most likely. Yes it's a PIA to block under the frame for 'just a quick look'. Come
off the jack or lose an airbag and there ain't time to get out from under, you're squashed. I dropped one of mine while trying to figure how to block
it and destroyed an aluminum radiator - an expensive lesson. It's a risk - reward calculation. The risk is small, but the reward is a box, either
for ashes or body. Crib it before you crawl under. If you're on dirt, DO NOT TRUST JACkSTANDS. Regardless the surface, I crib mine with 4x4s and
shake and bump before I go under it.

Years ago I was swapping out the rear end on my 1950 Pontiac. Had it "securely" supported on large (~1' diameter} tree sections. Lying underneath
with the wheels off and axle shafts pulled, I felt something move. Grabbed the frame rail and slid myself out, just as the the supports sank into the
soft ground, rolled to one side, and deposited the Pontiac gently on the dirt.
Since then (circa 1965) I make it a habit whenever under a vehicle to slide the removed (or another) wheel under the frame as close as practical to
where I'm working. Just in case.

If the jackstands are on concrete and stable they ought to hold. I share stuffing the removed wheel under as well. However the idea of boozing the
day away instead is tempting Just don't tank up and then go to work under the coach.
