(How many people still believe that placing a battery on a concrete floor
will somehow discharge it?)

Sure do. Especially up north. Not a matter of loosing electricity. Its a
matter of loosing heat. On cold winter days we would drain the oil from the
airplane and take the oil and the battery into the house to keep them warm.
Come time to start things up, everything goes back and off we go. Airplane
parts houses will sell you a heater pad that glues to the side of the
battery. Also, notice I have a block heater on the GMC. Same reason. Lot
easier to start on a cold winter day. For u-all down south a block heater is
a 110v heater element that replaces a freeze plug. Pre-heats the
water/antifreeze in the block.
