Fred:
Have you ever tried taking the grill out prior to playing with the batteries??
Only six small nuts to remove.
Try it, you'll like it.

Subject: GMC: Batteries - Coachmen Upfitter
Coachmen installed and wired the batteries in my '78 Royale (Center Kitchen
model) the same as Richard Guthart describes below. While the locations have
the volume to accommodate the batteries, I have found removal and
installation through the front access panels to be difficult. The engine
battery has to be removed to replace the right side coach battery and the
left side coach battery can be removed only through the wheel well. I have
found it easier to just remove all batteries through the wheel wells. And if
I have the wheel well liners out for some other reason, that makes battery
removal and replacement the easiest.
