Ed --
All you can use is 12 volts, therefore you can use two of your batteries is
series(plus to minus) to make the 12 volts. If you want greater capacity and
your batteries are reasonably matched (internal resistance approximately equal)
as would be the case with new batteries, you could put them in two parallel
banks, then each bank hooked to the other in series (three batteries with plus's
connected together and with negatives connected together makes one parallel
bank).
(+battery -) (+battery-)
+12v-----(+battery -)---------(+battery-)----- -12V
(+battery- ) (+battery-)
I hope the above formatting holds up-- should show two stacks of three batteries
each with one stack + connected to other stack- to make 12V.

I didn't realize that the batteries were in your golf cart. I would think that
you could connect the inverter across any two of the batteries. Alligator clips
for a temp. connection or hard-wire if you so desire. If you are unsure, check
it out with a volt meter or if you don't have one use a 12v auto bulb. If you
get much more than 12 volts you will have a bright flast before it burns out ---
better a bulb than an inverter!!

Not 100% sure but if you connect off of the first two batteries in the series it
may be 12 volts. I think any combo off the first battery will be the multiple of
the voltage. Guessing, but it seems logical. Darren

Nothing to it! Just hook your inverter to any two ADJACENT (electrically)
batteries. You can even move the connection periodically as you work to keep
from depleting one pair.

The voltage of batteries wired in series add. Thus your six 6-volt batteries
wired in series gives the golf cart 36 volts to run on. Since you only want
to feed your inverter 12 volts, you will want to use only two of the
batteries. Doesn't matter which two, provided they are connected in series
only with each other. This isn't clear, is it. Let me try this:

A+B+C+D+E+F where each is a 6 volt battery. The neg of A is connected to the
pos of B; The neg of B to the pos of C, and so forth, giving 36 volts from
the pos of A to the neg of F.

What you want to do is connect your inverter from the pos of A to the neg of
B, or the pos of B to the neg of C, or whatever. I would recommend using A+B
for a while, then C+D for a while, then E+F for a while so as not to run
any two down too far. You don't need to disturb the golf cart wiring at all
to do this; it won't be affected. Just a couple of wires with alligator
clips on 'em. But be sure you are paying attention to the polarity!

Whew! It's much harder to describe it than to do it!

Heart and others make inverters that run from 12v to 24 and 48 volts. If you
want to run heavy equipment, like things with 3kw, then you need the heavy
battery load. I installed a 1500 w inverter, and since I had room in the rear
of the coach, inside, and behind the panel where the batteries are, that is
where I installed mine. I put in a switch to turn it on so it would not be on
all the time. It works great and does not take any space inside. If you want
