After taking out my OEM 6" round fan in pieces I am left with options of a replacement from JC Whitney @ $58 or looking at a "Create a Breeze" from Fantastic for $75. Couple of ?'s

Are the Create a Breeze covers the same as their more expensive models? I would prefer some light coming in. It comes opaque.

Anything tricky in the surgical procedure and or does anyone have the #'s for cutting a 14 x 14 fan in a wetbath coach?

Thanks all! Happy Labor Day.

Don't even think about anything other than a Fantastic Fan. It will
outperform almost any alternative. And the company stands behind their
products 110% -- a real rarity these days.

Pete,
Spend the extra for the Fantastic. It is warranteed as long as they are in buisness, which I hope is a long long time. I would want one that blows both ways but that is up to you. We have one in our bath and love it. Never use a light again during the daylight hours. You need to make sure that you dont miscut as there is little room for error. Search the photo site for some good instructions on install in a bath.

Installed a fantastic fan a few months ago. You can feel where the ribs you need to avoid cutting are by feeling for them through the hole in the bathroom. I cut the bath ceiling first and glued some wood strips on the top of the bath module so the lower trim piece screws would have something to grab on to. The wires for the water heater and fridge were above the ceiling so watch out for them when cutting. Our mirror side shower rail strip had to be moved over too. She bought me the fan for my birthday and I shoulda put in right away. It is a big improvement.
I still have the original if you want me to send it to you, It runs but the handle is broken in half and there is a small crack in the top cap maybe you can make one out of two?

Pete:

In order to avoid cutting the ribs you can use a electronic stud finder. It will tell you exactly where the ribs are and if the power is on, it will tell you where the AC wires are.
Pay attention to where the vent will be located on the roof. Don't get it too close to the pod (if you have one) or the railing.
Measure three times, cut once.

Re: Bath fan vent

My bath fan motor was toast. I replaced it with a muffin type fan which I purchased for around $10.00 at Princess Auto in Brandon (Princess Auto is to Canada what Harbour Freight is to the US) I rounded it by cutting the corners off the frame so it would fit inside the vent. I was able to use the same switch and switch location. It works perfectly, is quiet, and drawn less juice than the original. Works well for me.

Bob;
I just received some parts from Princess to replace 3 of 8 that had gone
missing when the shipping envelope had split. No hassle, and arrived
from Winterpeg in 3 days.
I have received the same great service from Applied GMC when stuff was
missing or in the wrong box. I know it takes longer that 3 days, but
that is because we have a border in the way.

Bob,
IMHO one of the best mods you can do for your bath is to get rid of
the factory 6" fan and install a Fan Skylight combo such as a
Fantastic, SHURflo or a Maxxfan units. I found a skyline/fan
assemble in Elkhart for about $30 that work just great. The larger
vent fan with a 14 X 14 vent cover really light up the bath. My wife
said the old vent fan and no skylight was like sitting in a closet.

The second to last picture show the new style vent fan.

The Fantastic fan I put in my wet bath, I ordered with a clear cover. The amount of light now transforms the space.

J.R. That looks like a nice mod. The only problem is I may not live long enough to complete the 10,000 upgrades I want to do. Besides - I promised my wife I would sell the thing when I'm 80.

The CFO's greatest fear is that I will die first and she will have to deal with all my stuff. My greatest fear is she will sell my stuff for what I told her I paid for it.

I just bought a Create A Breeze for the bath, but I wonder if there is a problem with the bottom of the fan frame matching up with the curvature of the roofline. I have two FF's on the coach centerline, but none that far over.

Also, I really would prefer the clear lid. How easy are they about doing an exchange?

Randy;

I installed a regular 14 in square roof vent in my coach's wet bath about 6 years ago. It is just about the best mod I've done. I couldn't get over how dark it was in the bath with the original push-up style vent.

My vent lid is frosted, but allows in tons of light and I never have to put the lights on in the bath unless it's quite dark outside.

As to your question, it installs easily with no curvature-related issues. I cut the roof with a cutting wheel on my 41/2 inch angle grinder, with the old round hole for the original vent roughly in the middle of the new hole. If you put the top part of the vent on the roof before making your cut you can see the best spot to put it as if you go too far to the outside, you might get into some curvature issues.

dont' forget to move the 12v power lines out of the way before cutting.

I cut the fibreglass bath insert with the cutting wheel too. the lower valance tht came with the new vent fits great with some trimming. looks as good as any factory installation.

Anything tricky in the surgical procedure and or does anyone have the #'s for cutting a 14 x 14 fan in a wetbath coach?

The Fantastic fan is the way to go. You can get any shade of color you want, they even have a flat model that I really like.

Probably sounds silly but I put the remote control fan in there. Yeah, YEah, remote start, temperature control, speed control, closes when it rains, who needs that??? lolololo I did.

With your fan out, feel around for the ribs with a ruler. Now be careful, you have wiring up there. I had to hold the wiring back as I cut so I did not damage the wires.

All in all it is not that bad a job, just takes some time.

You are gonna love that fantastic vent fan.

You need to find the front to back aluminum support near the outside edge.
Cut along this support front to back for your outside edge. Position the
rear most edge of the FF at the rear edge of the round hole of the hammond
fan. This will line you up for a good fit. Learn from my mistake. I cut
too far to the outside edge. I had to make a repair there.
Good Luck
