Bill,
If you raise the coach and place a jack stand under the control arm the
weight of the coach will keep the arm stationary. No need to unload the
torsion bar. Very carefully inspect the tip of the control arm for
cracking. This is especially important if any of the mounting bolts are
loose as this almost always results in cracking. Not to worry if you
find cracks though, I repaired mine on the coach. It just takes a bit
more time. If the PO did a poor job of drilling out the old rivets and
the holes are sloppy, you can go to the next size larger bolt by
redrilling the arm & the mounting holes in the ball joint. When you
install the new ball joint ensure that the bolt heads are on the outside
of the control arm. Nuts out interfere with the steering on lock to
lock turns.
