Back in the west... without changing any more Alternators/Pulleys

Through the heat and wind we're back out West.

Seems we've resolved the alternator pulley problem as being one of not
enough iron on the stator shaft which caused the pulley to flex under load
and basically undoing the nut.

Will be passing on the information to Leigh so that may consider a change in
the serpentine kit. I ended up using a Ford pulley but have to make it align
a touch better, but it made it all they way back without hassle. It needs to
go about a 1/6th or 1/8th further out but I ran out of threads on the
stator.

I'll elaborate later re wireless service and coverage and the eastbound vs
the uneventful (yipee) westbound stretch.

Hi Dick,

I'll fax the info to Leigh later tonight or tomorrow (he's not online).

I think that perhaps the only diff is really that in my coach the alternator
puts out more for longer, i.e. . It's still only a 100 amp alternator and
was putting out about 50-80 amps most of the time.

It should be an easy mod for Leigh and would imagine he'll make it.

The only other associated problem is that the tensioner. Again, probably
constant load related, I can't get it to stay floating. Adjustment of AC or
Alternator is slipping, but the belt doesn't so I'm not too sure on that.

I'm still glad I went serpentine, though... as I said before, just some bugs
to iron out and it's getting close.
