If it didn't leak before, it most likely won't now. There has to be
some slop. I have one set up on my bench & just went out and checked
it. The long axle (pass side) has about the same amount of play in it
that you describe. The short side has less, but some. If there were no
tolerence for movement something would probably break. The outer (hub)
ends will eliminate nearly all of the movement you're talking about once
the unit is installed. Keep going!
