Any data about cost, installation, or anything else on the subject would
be appreciated.

Stephen,
I'm at the point on my GMC where the wife says that the next
improvement will be an awning. This is after we spent a great weekend
in the Anza Borrego desert without one. I checked at a local RV supply
house in El Cajon, CA. and they will install a new A & E with custom
arms and aluminum sun guard for $860.00. The owner bid high because the
install guy has to spend some time modifying the rear strut support to
clear the propane door. They've done GMC's before. I asked about the
contact between the door and the awning and they mount a roller on the
door. The install guy says it will probably only last about 7 or 8
years.
This probably doesn't do you much good in TX? but it gives you
something to make a decision with.
HTH,
Steve F.
