awning support

Kelly,

I've used those for the Omnistor awning on my X-Birchaven almost ever since
I installed it 10 years ago:
http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/g4173-omnistor-installation-on-23-5c-27.html
They definitely do the job, but almost immediately, the fabric stretched
to, and held, the profile imposed by the arches. When the awning is
retracted, the created wrinkles are "ironed in" and are ugly when the
awning is extended, until the arches are re-installed. I don't have any
photos of the stretched awning nor with the arches installed. Just
remember that once you uses them, you'll have to ALWAYS use them, otherwise
the stretched fabric will catch water MUCH worse than before.

Oh yes, thinking back: I modified the arches because I had no place at the
coach end for the holes required by the "nipples" on their ends. I did
drill holes into the outer tube, but at the inner end I cut the nipples off
and marked (with magic marker 10 years ago) where the rubber padded ends
should rest. Never been a problem. I also marked the arches themselves
with that same magic marker to show where the adjustable ends are when
fitted -- makes preparing them for installation easier.

Kelly,
Those awning supports would probably work, but before you order them I would try some used sailing battens.
That is what I have done on my Omnistar awning with good success.
But then I'm a sailor😊

I don't like the idea of stretching the fabric. I got a PM showing a wrench wedged elevating the metal part of the awning, might just try that!

Sailing battens, that's an idea too! (after I googled it)

Cheers

If you set one end of your awnins a bit higher than the other you won't have
a pooling problem.

Could this or something like it work with the GMC awnings?

I've had a lot of pooling, water coming through my sunbrella fabric. And,
to lower the arm so the water runs off means the door is hard to open. I
do have a shark shaped wood piece to brace the awning up over the door.
