Ski Stowage?? Based on problems I have had moving on wet grass, I can't
imagine getting anywhere near snow with my coach!

Actually, Avion upfitted quite a few GMC Transmodes in both 23' and 26'
configurations. I have over 60 of them in the Registry.

The ski stowage area may have been an option.

Once had a friend put some chains on a corvette, another vehicle well known
for it's foul weather handling. A chain began slapping loose, as they
were/are prone to do. Fiberglass vs. Chain? Guess who wins. I'll come see
you in Florida and leave the snow trips to a better suited vehicle.

I guess the newer variety of nylon chains would be better, but I once got
our coach sideways on a slick, icy road here on flat old long island. After
I cleaned out my pants, I decided this vehicle was not made with snow and
ice in mind, and vowed to stay away from mountains in the winter. Chains are
great, but can't overcome all laws of physics.

I'm sure many have driven many safe miles in their GMC in winter
conditions, but as Clint Eastwood once said, " A man's got to know his
limitations" , so I'm staying home or going to Delray Beach! :>)

Tony,
Your reply may generate a blizzard of war stories about driving the GMC on
ice and snow. I've got a few stories but I'll just say its not too bad as
long as you carry chains, always start and stop with it pointing downhill
and stay parked until the road is sanded.

I recall once being in Red Rock Canyon near Oklahoma City and some rain
made the long, steep road out of the canyon pretty slick. We just had
several of the more corpulent rally members stand on the front bumper and
a-waaaaaay, we went!
