Back in September, the 19th to be exact, my alternator failed in
Connecticut. It was a Sunday morning, and I was on my way to
Forest City, Iowa. The first auto parts location I could find was an
AutoZone.

As it turned out, somewhere between Colorado and Nova Scotia,
this new alternator became faulty. As I am now in Maine, I went
looking for an AutoZone.
I went to: www.autozone.com

A quick search of their excellent site revealed that no AutoZone
existed in Maine. I thought that perhaps a new outlet might have
opened that had not yet been posted on their web site. I sent an e-
mail to that effect.
An immediate reply requested my phone number. At the exact
time that I suggested would be the best time to reach me,
ron.namias called.

It's been a long time since I've talked to someone who was
genuinely interested and concerned about the inconvenience
caused by their product. There was no suggestion that somehow I
was responsible for the failure, there was no interrogation about
where I had purchased, in fact he never asked, and there was not
even a request for a copy of my receipt.

Today, long before noon, that's 17 1/2 hours later, FedEx arrived at
the door. Well, you know what was in the box :-)

Let's evaluate: Earlier this week someone, Emery in AZ ?, showed
us that Auto zone was 1/4 the price of Napa TS6469 with its TU5.
Off line, a fan belt was 2/3's less at Auto zone than it was at Pep
Boys.
What do I suggest ?... go to the web site www.Autozone.com and
find out where the nearest Autozone store is located. Shop at Auto
zone and save yourselves some cash, remember the price of gas
has gone up !!
With approximately 300 of us in this group, maybe we can convert
some "Hard to Get" parts to 'stocked items' !
And, as far as I'm concerned ron.namias , why,
he's the Man !

It was I who was doing the sales pitch for Autozone.
However, I don't have much of a filing system. Perhaps someone
has the contact name from Auto Zone that I provided to the group
some time ago (late Nov./earlyDec.)

Try: http://www.autozone.com/
if no one can provide a name .

This is common practice in big business....I think we did a round of
price reporting on Mobile 1 around the country a while ago.
Let there be no confusion, I do not like this.

Someone find the name of the Auto Zone contact, and Vic, call him
and tell him Mike Beaton only paid $74.9something, why should
you pay more !!
If it works, fine.
If it doesn't, tell him off after he stops laughing :-)
