Atwood electric water heater

Anyone know much about these vintage heaters? Looks like mine has 2 electric elements in series then into a temp control or so tgey call it.

One element seems to have a "reset" button on it but not the other.

I need to replace the element(s) and have no idea what model etc i have.

With so many different Atwood units out there and this being an older unit it would help if you posted the model number and maybe several pictures of the possible replacement items that you are asking about.

I have no idea what model it is honestly....ill try to get better pictures but its pretty hard to do with it mounted. I need to replace the element i
suspect and if it is an older EHM-6sm the element can be bolt in or screw in.

I was hoping someone would recognise the heat sensors and be able to give me better info.

Ok so its an EH6 with the bokt in element (4 bolts) not the screw in.

So question is are residencial heating elements the same as rv units? Asside from the element length...im talking gasket and flage etc....

You can buy an adapter that bolts in and allows you to use screw in elements. Much easier to service. Check Home Depot or Lowe’s.

All the bolt in elements are the same 4 bolt flange. The only minor issue is that the way bigger elements can be longer. So, either measure the tank
length or stick a something in so you know how much room you have. Most or the 4000/4500 watt elements are doubled back and so will fit.

Why do you want a 4500watt heater? It is a 240V heater and will only be 1250 watt at 120V. That means that the heat density will be 1/4 of the old
element and so will scale up less and probably last forever.

I hit a house trailer parts place in Gainesville Ga. He had a stack of four bolt elements and of screw in elements. We matched length with a four
bolt 220 element which works well in my heater.

no choice all i could get was 120v/1500w....quess i know how to change it for next time...lol.
