Assorted brake system questions (REVCON)

How so? More fluid to the rear to move four sets of shoes, but the bulk of the stopping on the front disks, right?

Also, rockauto shows the same MC for the 74 Transmode and a whole bunch of other trucks, including the P30

A lot of thew 'suitability' charts basically mean the bolt pattern is at least close and it didn't leak. Much. Mr. Hupy has the right of it.

Yup.

So, is it possible to rebuild one from scratch, like without an actual rebuild kit? Could i open it up and mic the various seals and O-rings and
source them individually?

At this point I don't know for certain the MC is bad. But I'm researching all the variable.

You can do exactly that. If the bore is pitted... which it often is, you can hone it. If it's pitted beyond reason you can sleeve it and hone the
sleeve. Advance had one of the crossover book numbers on the shelf. So far, works fine.

As to the behavior, it has to do with the suspension design. An axle on a leaf spring digs downward very little. An axle on a bogie pivoted at the
opposite end has a LOT of downward dig. Braking action will differ betweenthe two.

A axle on leaf springs (aka Hotchkiss) winds up the leaves on hard
accelerations (positive or negative), which will cause the axle to hop.
That was the point of ladder bars on passenger cars with solid rear axles
used for drag racing. That’s not the same as our forward-trail bogies, of
course. As to those, I’m not sure it’s a feel thing as much as the
unweighting of the rear bogie caused flat spots on tires that readily skid.
