Will gladly keep a list in a doc or spreadsheet format that I can email to
everyone who wants one. Nothing fancy, just info. And if you don't help me
find MY GMC, I'll turn it over to someone else.

Roger
7? ???

Tim,
At least you have interstates there, We still have ruts in Mississippi. The
highway numbers can't add up to more than 10 or we run out of fingers. I
live on hwy 82 so it's easy to count that one.

Roger
7? ????

> What exit on I-10 are you located? They do number them in FL, don't they?
> Roger

Well now that You ask Roger, I recognize I hadn't a clue what the exit
number was.
I just turn where I always have and somehow wind up here.
Upon investigation I found that the exits in Fl actually are numbered!
They even went a step further, and numbered "the first I-10 exit in FL
east of the Al/Fl state line", exit number ONE. Will wonders never
cease! ;>)
Actually, I'm not more than a half hour from any of the 6 Pensacola
exits
(exit numbers 1thru6). Exits 7&8 are less than an hour away.
Tim Timothy

Appreciate everyone who has added their name to this list. Think there
should be some rules, for the good of all. Also some understanding that I
am just a care taker at the moment. This list is open to ALL on this list
as this is the ONLY place the list will be posted. This list is your
responsibility when you get it on your computer. You will control it from
that point on. IT WILL BE YOUR RESPONSIBILITY
WHERE IT GOES FROM THERE.
I previously stated that I would post it via private request. Change to
that is: you can request the list anytime privately or on the list. Private
request probably best, but actual posting of the file will ONLY be made to
the list. Again, I will only include name, city, state, area of assistance,
and phone #'s. No street addresses as I cut them out.

Need help on how to improve. Yep, improve already. Would this list as a
doc file sent as an attachment be better? Seems to me that that would be
the way to go as we could then save it to a separate file and be able to add
personal names and addresses for quick print out before a trip. Any idea?
You can email me private so as not to load up the listserve at
rblack

I understand the need for privacy and want to honor that will all names.
Send in your ideas to assist me in maintaining this list. BTW, I am not a
computer guru and may ask for help from you.

Thanks to all who have responded. Since I have not met any of you except
via the net (plan to meet Lanier this week), I will send you a bio if you
request so you will know some of who you are sending information to.

Roger
7? ???? and getting closer to that GMC everyday now

Lanier,
Well what are you waiting for? Gimme some information on the girl. I am
definitely GMC material, have a few dollars in the bank (GMC'ers are
spending theirs like air leaking from a faulty air bag) and I have lots of
time on my hands for TLC. Just a thought, does anyone use their GMC's on
the road for traveling? Seems like they are all on the computer at home
like me who has none.

You will give a 10 year 100,000 mile drivetrain warranty including towing
costs, won't you?

That statement shows I have a sense of humor, much needed to go with the
GMC's, right?

That's my qualifications. Do I fit the club?

Roger

>Just a thought, does anyone use their GMC's on
>the road for traveling?

Yup. Just tallied up 14k since it swallowed an exhaust valve last April.
That's when I did heads and EFI. Been keeping tabs on compression as the
piston top got bashed a little. Still looking good.

BTW, anyone ever need assistance on the west coast of Canuck Land, give a
holler. Same goes for the need of a cup of coffee while in the neighborhood.

Our home doesn't have room for GMCs, but we do have a warehouse where we store ours - with a decent floor jack and jack
stands. The city of Sanata Cruz permits 12 hour parking in front of our warehouse. Some MHs are parked there overnight, but
it's mostly tractor-trailers for area businesses. The road that the warehouse is on is extra wide with ample space on the
sides to park. Very little through traffic.

I'd suggest making it an HTML file for online access, and both a text file and PDF. Everyone can read a text file and format
it the way that they want. PDF permits you to format it the way you want and then distribute it to folks.

As for privacy, Patrick could place the files in a directory that is otherwise unlinked in teh motorhome site. Or I could
put it up on my site. By making it nonlinked, it's less convenient, but robots won't harvest our names. Otherwise, I'm not
really concerned much about privacy. My business address is on my postings.

I have owned my 78 Royale for three months. I work full time and have
two small kids. I have managed four trips and logged over 2,000 miles in
New Mexico and southern Colorado. Only 30 on the hook. I have also
done numerous repairs.

soon as it is worked out, It will be available by request via the list here
but will be sent to your own email address, as attachments cause Dave to
pull his hair out.
Want it to help, not hinder. Now, here are the names, send me corrections if

Wouldn't it be simpler and handier to post this on patricks site for anyone
to download. It needs the addresses and phone numbers however to be useful.

You can add my name to the list. Just off the new york state thruway
(Verona Exit), and than proceed 3 miles to Vernon NY..

I have a complete shop with tools, engine lift, air compressors, many parts.
Can fix any part of the GMC. Electronics technician available to fix
anything that has an electron. Hourly rate, a good conversation.

A few thoughts:

GMC Motorhomes International members already have something of this
sort. Members are advised to carry their directory with them when they
travel and call a nearby member in the event of trouble. The original
idea was a way to find GMC-knowledgable service while on the road, but I
hear the reality is that the GMCMI member called often shows up with
tools and spare parts, ready to help. I'm not saying we can't do this
too - just stating the obvious - that it's already been done. I
appreciate the work that GMCMI does and I've always encouraged GMC
owners to join. Well worth the modest cost, IMO.

To be useful, the list must be kept current. If you volunteer to be on
the list, you need to be sure to keep your address and phone number(area
codes are especially fluid these days) up to date. I don't see the need
to post a full address - city, state and telephone number should be
sufficient.

This should not be a casual commitment. Don't ask to be on the list
unless you're willing to put up with late night distress calls(these
things never seem to occur at a convenient time).

That said, if the consensus here is that we need this list then I'll be
happy to post it on my site and maintain it.

Any other comments?
Patrick

Roger. Just a suggestion on your list. Even though I can get a more complete list
it would be nice if you included phone no.'s on this "quick list" Darren

Walter, 4 trips! 3 more than me. My only trip so far was to get it home.
Been working on it ever since. Now owned it for 13 months. It looks good out
back wrapped in a tarp waiting for spring. At least three more months. Will
be back in your neck of the woods in June 99. I'll bring my 3 kids over to
keep yours company. Don't worry I'll bring the tequila. Run away while you
can. Love that part of the world. Darren

Patrick,

There are a number of printed lists available. However, based on the many phone calls I've placed (and received from other
list members) I think that the people participating here are unique in the GMC community.

While there may be eqully helpful and competent GMCers, the people on this list seem to be very active. AS a group we seem to
be staying abreast of a wide range of GMC related issues. In addition, there is a sense of community among list members that
can be helpful in case of an emergency.

I'm not saying that non-list members aren't helpful, just that there seems to be an extraordinary commitment from those on the
list.

Darren,

June is a great month in Santa Fe and we have a pool. You and the kids
are welcome.

Walter, 78 Royale Santa Fe,NM

Arch, and all this list,
"I don't think many of you realize how special this group is."

This is an understatement. As a newbie-wanna-be owner of one of these great
coaches (that description doesn't fit the GMC) I was truly amazed at the
acceptance and knowledge of this group. I probably have been able to
acquire more knowledge via this group on what to look for in the purchase of
a GMC than any car I have bought over the years.

This is also why I wanted to do the listing. Since I don't have the
mechanical knowledge of the GMC, I felt I could help by the listing. For
me, I will join the organizations once I am on the road, but if I need help,
it will be the friends on this list that I will call first without
hesitation, as I "know" you guys. You are the people who will be there in
an emergency situation, no questions asked. That is the feeling from a
newbie's standpoint.

Now for a question: Most posts on engines I think are regarding the 455
Olds engine. What about any experience in the 403 Chev(?) engine. How does
one tell the difference. What should one look for that's different than
with the 455?

As for the listing I sent the other day, it was just to confirm names I have
on the list, not the complete listing and locations. Just name and city,
state for corrections. Full listing is by state, and includes more
information on directions, areas of coverage, etc.
Roger

Good deal. Don't be surprised to hear from me. Later. Darren

Arch, I don't worry about you. You have found the meaning of life, the
universe, and everything else. I just worry about having enough money to keep
up with all these neat things that I ought to be doing to me coach, and I am
sorry it's so dam cold outside or I would be out looking at studying what's
next.
