It sounds absurdly stupid, but it's worked perfectly for me: Behind the
X-Birchaven's Dometic 2652 I've got a wire basket hanging at the top of the
outside vent with a couple of seldom-used long extension cords stowed in
it. Below that at the front are two 2-stage bottle jacks and a wheel
chock. Below at the rear of the compartment is a re-packaged Sears 1.5 hp
120vac compressor connected via check valves to the rear suspension.
That's controlled at the lower/raise switch panel behind the license plate
for use at the,dump station. All of that's kept away from the
refrigerator's components by a 1-1/2" high fiberglassed "dam" for water
exclusion and an expanded metal "fence" for everything else.
I keep nothing flammable there, and nothing to seriously obstruct air
flow. With the limited external storage on the 23', I would REALLY miss
that compartment! And would have for the past 22 years.
