ICQ is a 'beta' program and has been for 2 years. Follow the link to
download from a local Tucows host. ICQ is an Israeli company.

Save to a folder on your hard drive then find the file and double click to
install.

I think ICQ has a guide to do this.

Regarding Arch's chat room, yup, that's a good idea too. ICQ is just another
way to tell you when someone's online and send 'instant' messages. Its very
useful, but also addictive.

Nice thing about it is that we can ALL discuss a common subject (LSR) in
real time without waiting.

ICQ was the first and runs circles around any other personal chat program
out there. It's configurable to meet your own needs/preferences.

One caution though.

Personal chat/real time communicators are great for quick info. It's saved
on each of the participating computers.

BUT, THERE'S NO RECORD OF IT FOR OTHERS TO USE.

I really get a lot of milage out of Patrick's archives. (And am
appreciating Sandy's hard work in catagorizing them). I'm afraid that if
everyone starts using ICQ, there will be no more archives for posterity.
This would be a cryin shame.

Lets be sure and continue to use the mailing list for most correspondence.

Thanks
