We have a 1974 Eleganza SE with Floor Plan 26'-8
http://www.gmcmotorhome.com/faq/GMC26Interior.html and there is not enough
room (according to my wife) between the dinette and the chairs.

Does anyone have a frame pattern for a standard couch that will fit between
the kitchen cabinet and the front of the coach? I am not looking for
anything that will make into a bed, just a basic couch with underneath
storage.

I can build one from scratch but, if available, I would prefer a tested
pattern.

I'm fixin to build one that'll fold down into a bed. I'm gonna take one of
the rear dinette seat frames and lengthen it to reach all the way from the
kitchen cabinet to over the step behind the driver's seat. I'll be sure
and keep a good record of how I do it. I don't think it'll be that big of
a project. There'll be some good storage underneath it too.

All we have for a couch in our 26-3 Palm Beach is a cot with a nice cover
on the mattress. See it at http://www.web-access.net/~bmassey/sweetpea.html .

Holler at me in a month or so to see how it's coming along.

Tom,

I don't think you will find a standard couch to fit because of the steps
to the coackpit. Alex Sirum made two coaches from my design that end up
being 34" by 74" and when I remove the bolsters they become quite
comfortable beds.

We put two large drawers under each couch so I have plenty of accessable
storage.

I don't have a patter but such a couch can be easily built. The base for
the beds lift on air shocks for additional (4" x 74" x 34") storage.

Have you considered it from the other side? Remove the dinette
and take a foot or so off of it. When reinstalling, put it on a
platform with slide out drawer underneath.
Just a thought.

The bench seat out of full size conversion van would be it. It has the
storage compartment underneath. You could still use the bed if you wanted
to, however the frame would suit you just fine.

I just bought the buckets and the rear benchseat out of a 85 GMC full size
van. Just using the buckets. Check with you local junk yard they may have
one that you are looking for.
