OK Dave Lenzi sold me.
An Electric vacuum pump was on this winter's list.
I bought an ACDelco 20804130 Vacuum Pump (Bosch/Hella part) on Ebay. I finally got it plumbed in. (If you do not have significant metal working
facilities available, consider buying Dave's manifold.)
The pump ran as soon as it was powered. It did not run and shut off. It did a lot of run-stop-run. I identified that the pump was leaking back very
badly. So, I added another check valve. Unfortunately, the check valve available at the parts stores are all the CCV (Cheap Chinese Version) and
they leak only somewhat less than the pump itself. I haven't tried it with the engine running because I still have to finish the cooling system
flush. That will be later this week when I also load water and LP for the excursion to Shawnee.
