Ladies & Gents,
Just finished a two-week 1500 mile trip to northern Minnesota. Coach ran flawlessly.
I’ve got the stock, original 455 with about 160,000 miles on it with a timing chain and water pump replacement at around 130K.
I’d been having overheating problems last year but with a new HD fan clutch, a fancy fan from John Biwersi through JimK and a Robert Shaw thermostat also from JimK the temp is now rock solid normal. Yay.

We left Lincoln at 97 degrees and 78% humidity vowing to drive North until the air was cool. We drove through a cold front before we got to Sioux City and the temp dropped 25 degrees almost immediately. It took another day for that front to hit Lincoln.

In MN I installed the Onan primer circuit that the forum has talked about and a new fuel pump as well. Now the Onan starts and runs flawlessly as well. Yay, once more.

It shouldn’t be news that 1,500 uneventful miles go by, but I guess with a 46 year old vehicle it is. My beloved coach is a project vehicle on its best days, but with good help the demons are vanquished. Many thanks to those who post here regularly and teach the rest of us how to keep ‘em flying.

WAY TA GO...Doug and Virginia. So glad things are working for you. Any chance you are going to GMCMI in Mansfield OH?
Good to hear from you.

Thanks Larry. You know more than most our trials as you were an angel at just the right moment. Not sure about Mansfield. We got to Amana late and missed some of the good stuff and I sure would like to be weighed wheel by wheel. If we can we will. Just don’t know yet. Va is early enough into retirement that there are still lots of commitments. I hope to be there though.

Doug,
Every successful trip in a GMC Motorhome is worth celebrating. Good Job! As you know, it took some work and continued maintenance for that to happen.
Keep up the good work, and post about every trip, so we can all celebrate together.

Safe Travels,
Russell

Doug,

Now that you have most of the wrinkles hammered flat, just be very conscientious about the preventive maintenance. I have been and have been rewarded
with only being down on the road for prediction-proof component failures twice in 70K of the coach's 170K.
