another GMC on e-bay

I'm not an Ebay expert, but I am thinking it is pretty cheap
advertising, especially when there are million reading ebay and then
members of special interest groups like GMC, post pointers to items
for sale that take you right to the item referenced.

What is to stop someone from contacting the owner directly and making
a deal without bidding? (especially if the price is high and there
are no bids)
