Scott -- good ideas. We've used your second idea before.

Years ago we had a Travco motorhome which had rounded sides similar
to the GMC and we used a small cafe curtain rod above the inside of
the door. We sewed a flexible fiberglas screen cloth with a pocket
in the top to fit over the rod and another pocket in the bottom into
which we put a length of chain to give it weight. The length was a
couple of inches longer than the bottom of the door opening. When we
travelled we slid the screen over to the hinge side of the door and
it just hung out of the way with the chain on the floor holding the
bottom to the left inside of the door. When we parked and wanted to
use the screen we slide the top of the screen across opening of the
door and just dropped the bottom outside. The chain weight kept the
material covering the opening. We did not find it necessary to use
any velcro. The curved sides of the motorhome kept it tight against
the outside of the opening. If we wanted to get in and out we just
pulled the screen fabric to the side and stepped through the door,
letting the screen fall back into place. We've never made one of
these for our GMC, probably because we didn't have any mosquitos in
the Bay area of San Francisco and none in Santa Fe, but if we move
we'll probably make another one like it.
