Aluminum Header Gaskets

I blew out a header gasket and am installing a new one. After about a year, what I've discovered is that headers are HOT. Anything near them gets
cooked. I had to cut away part of the passenger wheel liner and just discovered that my speedometer cable is toasted. Since I had the header out I
decided to replace the trans governor gear as a preventative measure. What I discovered there is that the diameter of the replacement is too big and
I had to turn it down to get it to fit. Also, there is no hole drilled for the roll pin. Not a problem at home, but it wouldn't be fun on the road.

The kit I carry was sold by Byron Maxwell many years ago. It includes a
replacement roll pin and a drill bit.

The kit I got from Jim K included the gear, a roll pin and two finish nails, no drill bit. I'm not skilled at using finish nails as drill bits, but
think of all the money I could save if I were trained.

Jack, the finish nails need to be properly sharpened for them to fiction as drill bits :lol:
