Alternator went Bad

Shan,
Why don't you take some pictures and post them on the Photo site so other
can see what you have done. A small diagram on how you did the wiring
would be a great help to others. The position of the reclock would also
explain what you did. Most don't know what the term reclock means. Sound
that you did a great upgrade to your coach.

Shan,

The mod sounds good, but I am not sure what will be gained in the long term. He says this after years of putting high output alternators on the main
engines of so many performance cruisers (retired racing sloops).

The battery banks will only take what they can. At 140 amps, and a 23' with the house in the front, there is a real risk to the stock isolator. 26s
won't have this problem as the long run to the bank will be a limiter.

I can also promise you that the single belt limit is 100 amps. I suspect actually less, but the the belt blows so fast that I never got to actually
measure those.

Was that alternator a serpentine or v belt one? Also what did you do for mounting brackets?

stock brackets, running a double V belt, and a 140 amp isolator I should get a video up. ill try to make one this weekend. as for why the 140 amp alt,
my compressor pulls 60 amps and then there is the fans 70 amps for those bad boys but they only come on in traffic.
