The Revcon has 25000 miles. No signs of front wheel bearing problems but I'm thinking i want replace them, or at least, remove, inspect and repack.

From what i've read they are pretty close to the GMC. I'll remove the knuckle and have a machinist friend deal with the removal and pressing.

Is there a better choice than Timken?

What's the best lube?

What do i need to know about adding a Zirk ? (drill, tap, clean hole, apply fitting?)

thanks

If you can find a Zirk drilling tool, here is how to use it.

The Tinkem A23 (0.0095 clearance) set is still the perefered set that is
recommended. Other are list in the ZERK link at the bottom.

As for lube some use the Mobil 1 full synthetic red, Some have used the
Dura Lub and valoline with a moly adder and it is black in color. There
are a number of other full synthetic greases for wheel bearing available
out there too. Full have a shelf life of about a year and they do separate
and moly added greases are more forgiving. Anybody elso type in here for
their favorites.

Putting in the grease zerk can be done with the proper jig see this album:

There are many links or shortcuts in "The Zerk" link.

You must grind grease grooves in the spacer and be sure and not mix up the
spacers and bearing sets!!!

Bearings are not the problem, but the Knuckle is your problem.
Clearance on the bearing is pre checked at the factory, but you must
understand that when the bearing set is pressed on the hub, the
clearence is reduced, that is when you check for clearance. Does not matter
how accurate the bearings are if the hub is larger than needed.
The Hub must be tight enough to keep the assembly from rocking in the
knuckle.
We learned this back in 1984 from some great guys.
Our machinist is boing maching work for us and anther major shop as he is
very careful.
Dave Lenze use the same specs and we can saw that once one uses our
assembly, you do not need to touch it for 80,000 miles.
We state it in our website.
