I picked up my Alcoas and Bridgestone R265 tires yesterday. NTB mounted
them for me, but I had them balance only one. After they "balanced" it,
I had them take it off and then put it back on the machine. It came up
2oz. out the second time.

Now I'm looking for someone in the Atlanta area that uses Hoffman
equipment. The girl at Hoffman gave me two names. The first was a
service rep. He was absolutely no help. Wanted to argue with me over
whether the wheel was hub-centered - goodbye! Now I'm waiting for a
call back from the local Hoffman sales rep.

I'd recommend that anyone having their GMC wheels(steel or aluminum)
balanced try that test on the first wheel to be sure it really is
balanced before paying for the whole lot of six.

Patrick:

Hope you're having whoever balances, use the tape-on vs. the clip-on
style weights, which are of dissimilar metal and will in due time cause
corrosion on the aluminum wheel.

To preclude loosening of the adhesive on the tape-on weights from rain
water, run a small bead of silicon sealant around each weight perimeter
where it meets the wheel.

Your reminder is timely Paul. I knew that, but I just uploaded the
"tech" article on Alcoa Wheels to gmcmotorhome.com. I'll go back and
add that point to it. AAMOF, I didn't say anything about balancing in
it after all my carping online on the subject. Talk about a one track
mind...
