Okay, guys! Alcoa told me today they will send the new wheels by the end
of the week. They will pay all costs connected with inspection to
determine eligibility and to replace, balance, etc.
My wheel dates were 01/94 and 03/94. PN is 160231. I understand all wheel
PNs use the same material and so all styles may be affected. Seems the
problem is found mainly in rear dual configurations, possibly pickup
truck pulling heavy 5th wheel trailers. Breakage has occurred. The recall
campaign is just getting under way and Alcoa is just now contacting
distributors.
The rep told me they expected a shipment of wheels in this week and mine
would be shipped to Sirum's by Friday. They will provide a return
authorization upon verification of having affected wheels.
They seem very positive in getting the new wheels out as fast as possible
and with minimal inconvenience to the owners.
