Hello all,

I have a 1977 Birchaven with both a York compressor and tank up front on the left side. I am currently converting to the Micro-Level System.

Is it a good idea to increase the 1/4" line size from the tank in the front to the manifold in the rear?

The short line from the front compressor to the front tank is 1/4" copper. I was just thinking if there is any real benefit to inflating the
suspension quickly or even if the increased line size will have a noticeable effect.

A york has WAY more capacity than a Viair a 3/8" feed wouldnt be out of line.

I agree with John Wright. A 1/4” line will flow 30cu ft at 150 pounds in one minute.
What are you trying to inflate?
Perhaps you could save 10 seconds with a 3/8” line. The fittings, line and labor are quite a bit of money to save 10sec.

Lets not get people started on York unit as it does take mounting it on the
engine and we have enough hanging on the engine and as a shop we will
charge to deal with it.

Guy's thank you!

This is a total restoration. All tanks are presently out, interior has been removed, it's a clean shot to the compressor. I have tons of fitting and
air line. It would be no extra cost and very little extra effort to run the 3/8" in lieu of the 1/4" line. Ten seconds is worth it due to the nature
of the exercise.

I want to thank every one for their opinion it is appreciated.

My York is not on the engine . It has a lawnmower starter motor to turn it.

I had originally used a lawn mower starter to power it.
But I currently have an Onan starter motor modified by removing the bendix and mounting a bearing to hold the shaft just behind a pulley I fastened to the end of the shaft.
I can provide a picture if that would help.

I believe I have Darcey Moses conversion. Outstanding in my opinion. Crazy amount of air. Old DC motor with a belt pulley reduction. I was so
impressed I purchased a larger spun aluminum tank to reduce duty cycles, which will increase the life of the unit, supply air for the tires and also
air tools.

If you follow the 4X4 Guys they drop air pressure for rock climbing on 31"+ tires and re-inflate on the trails. Some power the units via the engine
and others use DC electric motors. Darcey passed away some 15 years ago +-. I will rebuild a York 210 as a back up if I need one in the next 20
years.

At this time Yorks are readily available and cheap at the junk yards it will run as a compressor for many years to come. They even have support parts
for York air compressor conversions. One company is even making a finned head for cooling.

I can't see me going back.
