Air conditioner mods

I have two blast gates (2-1/2") and a length of 2-1/2" good quality shop
vac hose. I am ready to drill (or have my friend drill because I cant
move) How much clearance is there in the front of the evaporator box
under the washer bottle. Should I take the cover off? What is the best
location for the holes in both the box and the floor, any preference???
Any photos posted on the subject?

I would take the cover off.look on gene fisher's web site for holes in the
floor.
I just finished mine,lot of air comes up thru the new holes.
i cut holes in the corners of the evaperator cover ,mounted the winsheild
washer in the middle and made a bracket and remounted the radiator resevior.

If I recall correctly there is about 2" or so.

I didnt.

I lined up the center of each hole with the inside-lower corners of the=20
hatch covers. To do so I used an extension on my drill and an extension on=
=20
my hole saw. First I drilled a pilot hole and probed around with a piece of=
=20
wire to be sure there is no wiring or tubing in the way. After making sure=
=20
all was clear I used the hole saw. I adjusted the hole saw so the drill=20
only sticks out about 1/4" past the end of the teeth. It was reasonably=20
easy. The hardest part is finding a long enough extension for the drill and=
=20
the hole saw. But a good hardware or tool store should have them. A 1/2"=20
drill motor is pretty handy for the hole saw too. You could probably do it=
=20
with a 3/8" but it is going to get a good workout driving a large hole saw.
