Since I bought my Jeep Cherokee, I've been monitoring a Cherokee mailing
list. The serious off roaders usually have onboard winches, air
compressors and even welders. The little 12 volt compressors just don't
provide enough oomph to please some of these guys, so they've taken to
mounting York vertical a/c compressors(internal oil reservoir) in the
engine bay. Check out one example at:

According to the article, with a hand throttle, you can even run impact
tools!
Can't wait to see who'll be the first to put this in a GMC.
