Any one who is going to change to an Edelbrock Performer manifold will
have clearance problems. The Ed. Man. raises the height of the carb
2.75". If you look at your stock set up you will see that the engine
cover sits right on your stock set up. Once you raise the manifold the
air cleaner is above the level of the floor. With the housing that high
the snorkel will not go under the floor. The housing Arch has was the
same as mine when I did the modification. It is a stock housing. This is
the point at which I came up with the raised hatch cover. (plug) I also
had to get a ram air system which allowed me some flexibility to clear
the floor for the intake air. I also, at the same time, installed a 3"
exhaust system which requires more intake air to make up the amount
exhausted. If you don't do this you will have leanment problems.
(probably wrong word) The ram air system lets the motor breathe
properly. Twin 4" intakes, which will come in handy when I get my Super
Charger. If you have any questions on what I did, fire away. Darren

For now all I can give you is: Go to my web site http://www.tzeplus.com ,
go to the products page and then to engine covers. Scroll down to the picture
where the cover is open and you can see the engine. Click on the picture for
a larger view. Not a bad picture really. It shows most of the components.

I have gotten interested in your ram-air setup. The catalog does not offe=
r enough help to suggest the combination needed for your custom installat=
ion using the e-manifold. How about sharing part numbers with us. Mainly =
the correct bottom plate for the 5-1/8 body. Next move will be to order y=
our 3.5 raised cover.
