Thanks Tim! Some good points in that post. I'd also point out for the
benefit of the list newbies, that there are personality conflicts underlying
this recent turmoil that are almost as old as this list - and yet GMCnet
survives; even thrives. The power of diversity has a dark side(hey, it's
been months since I've used a Star Wars analogy) that must rear its ugly
head occasionally. Hopefully, this forum is bigger than any individual
member, and while each member is important, none is irreplaceable(yours
truly included). The predominance of "GMC gurus" has been one of the major
factors in the success of this list. Knowledge(and therefore power) has
been redistributed from a priveledged few to the masses. If there's one
thing we've discovered, there's no one "right" answer for any question.
This can be a difficult concept for some people to grasp.

I decided long ago not to take sides in these conflicts. I don't have the
time or energy to be a "list momma" to 400 and I presume that all of you are
adults(except for Katie of course) and should be capable of working through
conflict without e-bloodshed. I will not allow "flaming", but I have a very
strict personal definition of that concept. While many participants have
been "unkind" in their recent remarks, IMO none have crossed the line. As
Tim aptly pointed out, if you want to see "flames" just watch the
rec.outdoors.rv-travel or alt.rv usenet groups for a week. That can be a
real education.

For those lurkers that don't post for fear of embarrassment, I'm sorry you
feel that way, but IMO it's your problem. I'm sorry if that seems harsh,
but my decision not to be a "list momma" applies here also. I've tried to
set an example by not being afraid to "be wrong" in this forum. My mistakes
are usually very public, but I consider them to be learning experiences.

For those that differ with my policies for running this list, feel free to
email me at patrick I'd prefer to handle these discussion
"off list" and not from my "work" email account. First I would invite you
to read http://www.gmcmotorhome.com/gmcnetguidelines.html so that you
understand what the policies are.

Carry on,
Patrick
