There's some food for thought here. The net is a very powerful medium,
and that's mostly good as we can all atest to the benefit of this
forum. However, there is a Dark Side(just had to use the Star Wars
metaphor since Episode 1 opened in Atlanta today). There is also the
possibility of spreading inaccurate information, and the resulting cost
of defending oneself and even civil penalties. Remember we're dealing
with people's livelihood when we write of someone's product or service
in a negative manner. This is the Litigeous States of America(I realize
some of you live outside our borders, but the vast majority of us are
subject to the twisted set of civil legal standards here), where you can
be right and still lose big time.

Some of you might remember the post I forwarded last year about the
member of an Alfa list that posted a negative commentary regarding
unsatisfactory service at a very high profile foreign car service
center. The garage owner sued not only the subscriber, but also the
list admin and the hosting ISP. It can happen, so think twice about the
source of information you post. Just 'cause it's in print don't make it
so!

And please, let's not start debating the merits(or lack of same) of the
US civil justice system. We can't change it here. :-(
