Storage pods are different heights. 10' and you will most probably clear unless ride height is eay high and out of wack. or have odd stuff on
roof. Coaches are generally between 9' and 10''. Some can get by with dropping air to fit through an opening. I know a couple that go into a 9'
door.

Steve,

This may help.
I have a low profile Carrier A/C and the measured height is 8'10" without the antenna.
With a tall pod, you might be 9'6" but you will not get to 10'.

Except for antennas.

Steve,

Make sure that the 10' door is really 10'. Many 10' doors are actually less than stated.
Remember to remove the radio antenna.

So I had this question on my mind today as well. I'm building a loft in my barn and want to be able to park the GMC beneath it. The height dimensions
from the gmcmotorhome.com site, source being the 73 owner's manual, indicates 8'-1" and 9'-2" with the roof top a/c. would that assume the original
16.5 wheels. how much would one lose in height if you went to 16" wheels? I guess just 1/2", right?

Michael,
I would suggest a 10 foot min., just remember once you build and anything changes don’t build it too close. Depending on the tire it could actually be taller.

The change in rim size in this case is negligible, as the tires were
designed to compensate.

Well, if the coach was sitting on JUST the wheels, it would only be 1/4 inch less, as the other 1/4 inch is on the top :) Tire size is what counts and
that varies by manufacturer. I can't check my 10 foot doors because the mirrors won't make it in the width of the doorway. Remember you may want or
need some extra headroom to jack it up for any number of reasons.

The 16" - 16.5" wheel diameter is unimportant. What you want to compare is the tire diameters which you will find out is the same unless you go to
over size tires.

If you can not find the tire diameters, then compare the revolutions per mile. Tirerack.com is a good place to look these up.
